A chronology you can work with.

Source references

Event narratives include annexure and page references to help you return to the supporting document.

Event context

Review hearings, orders, submissions and communications alongside extracted court, participant and outcome details.

Saved results

Revisit past extractions, filter the event list and share or assign saved records to collaborators.

Copy and export

Copy results or download a Markdown file containing the summary, events and metadata.

Treat every extraction as a draft. Verify dates, citations and completeness before relying on it for a filing or legal decision. It does not calculate statutory deadlines or certify evidence.

Your source material

Start with the papers behind the matter.

Build a draft from a single document or a main document with annexures. Review the detected boundaries so references point to the right part of the bundle.

Petitions and pleadings

Bring the sequence of filings, submissions and procedural events into one draft chronology.

Court orders

Review hearing dates, directions and recorded outcomes alongside their source references.

Annexures and correspondence

Connect notices, replies and supporting papers to the events they describe.

General extraction supports PDF, Word and plain text. Scanned PDFs use OCR; check unclear scans against the original.

Source review

Follow the event back to the page.

A useful chronology needs supporting context. Extracted events carry source references, with court, participants, outcomes and order references where available.

Use the event list and document viewer together to check what happened, when it happened and which paper supports it.

Before you rely on an event

  • Confirm the date against the source, especially partial or ambiguous dates.
  • Read the cited page and check that it supports the event description.
  • Check court names, parties and outcomes for omissions or misattribution.
  • Compare the full bundle with the draft to identify missing material events.

From extraction to handover

Keep the chronology with your team.

Return to saved work

Past extractions stay in the history sidebar, so you can reopen a result when you return to the matter.

Share the record

Use the saved record’s collaboration controls to share or assign it to colleagues.

Take the draft forward

Copy the results or download Markdown with the summary, event details and metadata for further review.

Questions before your first extraction.

What can I upload?
The general extraction flow accepts PDF, Word (.doc and .docx) and plain-text files. Scanned PDFs go through OCR, so scan quality can affect the result.
Can I start from documents already in Votum?
Yes. Select documents in Documents and use Generate List of Dates to open the timeline tool with those sources.
How is extraction charged?
Extraction uses AI credits at a per-page rate across the main document and annexures. Your workspace needs sufficient credits before extraction starts.
Can I download the chronology?
General results can be copied or exported as Markdown. Eligible UK workspaces with chronology functionality enabled also have reviewed draft PDF and Word exports.
Is the result ready to file in court?
It is a draft for human review. Check dates, missing events, source references and the court’s requirements before use. The tool does not certify citations or calculate statutory deadlines.
